Abacus & Hop Fest Coming to Hungry Monk

Hungry Monk in Chandler has a great lineup of Firestone-Walker beers tapping tomorrow as well as a great event at the end of April for all the local hop-heads. March 31 will be the tapping party for FW's Abacus. This was a hit beer at Strong Beer 2010, being one of the first to tap out. It is a 13% ABV American-style Barleywine aged up to three years in Bourbon barrels. To celebrate, Hungry Monk will have Union Jack, Double Jack and Walker's Reserve Porter on tap all day long, followed up with a cask of Double Barrel Ale at 4pm. The Abacus keg will tap at 7pm, and judging by how long the keg of FW 14th Anniversary lasted, it will be gone by 8:30 or so.

For valley hop heads, April 28th through May 1st will be Hungry Monk's celebration of the hop with their spring Hop Festival. They will have over 20 IPAs on tap throughout the weekend as well as a special cask tapping Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Owner Jim Lolli mentioned that Bell's Hopslam as well as something special from Odell's will be included in the cask lineup.

Where in the Phoenix Beer World?

Do you know where in the beer world this photo was taken?
The concept is simple. We post a picture that is relevant to the Phoenix beer scene and you try and identify it. Sometimes there will be a larger story involved, but often there will not. So, for glory and a tip of the glass next time we see you.
