Hungry Monk Porter and Stout Festival

If you haven't been to Hungry Monk in Chandler yet, you should check it out. Started as a Buffalo Wings and Rings franchise in 2008, they went independent back in August and now provide one of the best craft beer selections in the south-east valley. With 28 taps, many of which regularly rotate, you are sure to find something unique.

January 13-16 Hungry Monk will be hosting their first Porter & Stout festival. If it anything like their Hoptoberfest from this past October, you won't want to miss it. Hoptoberfest featured 17 IPAs on tap for the weekend. Speaking with owner Jim Lolli at lunch today, I heard the great news they were able to line up a keg of Dogfish Head World Wide Stout, an 18% ABV Imperial Stout. This beer once held the distinction of being the strongest beer in the world by ABV and is rarely available on draft so you won't want to miss it.

Here's the current list of beers they are planning to have on tap for the fest:
  1. Dogfish Head Chicory Stout
  2. Dogfish Head Worldwide Stout
  3. Leinenkugels Big Eddy
  4. BJ's Chocolate Stout
  5. Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin
  6. Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout
  7. Deschutes Black Butte Porter
  8. Firestone Walker Reserve Porter (Cask-Conditioned)
Jim is also working on lining up Stone Russian Imperial Stout and Rogue Imperial Porter with more to come.
